Extended protection against legionella outbreaks in evaporative cooling systems, cooling towers and wet separators
The German Federal Exposure Control Ordinance (42nd BImSchV) imposes new obligations on plant operators and water treatment companies.
The conductivity-controlled blowdown of the cooling tower and the dosing of biocides are the prerequisites for a successful water treatment concept. A more intensive control of the hygienic condition of the cooling water can be achieved by monitoring and controlling further parameters such as pH value, ORP or the direct measurement and dosing of disinfectants such as chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone.
The WCT900 offers all necessary inputs and outputs and a wide range of sensors. In addition, it provides all necessary function blocks for intuitive programming of control tasks or for monitoring limit values.
The Ethernet interface facilitates integration into existing networks and enables remote access and the transmission of warning and alarm messages.
The integrated data logging documents the success of your water treatment completely.

 

The WCT900 has four slots for input/output cards.
This allows up to eight universal sensor inputs or up to 24 analog inputs (4-20 mA) to be realized:

  • Conductive conductivity-measuring cells with different cell constants
  • Inductive conductivity electrodes
  • Fluorescence sensors (for PTSA or fluorescein)
  • pH/ORP sensors
  • Free chlorine / bromine
  • Total chlorine
  • Chlorine dioxide
  • Ozone
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Peracetic acid
  • Any other sensors with output signals ranging from -2000 to +1500 mV

Twelve digital inputs can be used for different purposes:

  • Flow switches or other external contacts to disable the controller
  • Water meter for dosing chemicals in proportion to quantity

Eight relay outputs can be set to different control modes:

  • On/Off set-point
  • Blowdown or dosage based on a water flow meter
  • Dosage as percentage of blowdown
  • Biocide timer-based activation with preliminary blowdown and blowdown lock
  • Time-proportional control
  • Probe wash
  • In-range or out-of-range activation
  • Common alarm

Up to 16 insulated analog outputs (4-20 mA) can be used to transmit measured values to a PLC or other device or to control the flow rates of dosing pumps.

 

The USB interface is used to read out the data memory, to import/export configuration files and to update the controller software.
The Ethernet interface allows connection to a LAN or a gateway for Internet access.

Cooling-tower controller WCT600

The Walchem WCT600 offers state-of-the-art technology for controlling your cooling-water treatment applications.

An integrated logging function makes for a complete documentation of the water treatment and fulfills the requirements according to the VDI standard 2047 Part 2: "Open recooler systems – Securing hygienically sound operation of evaporative cooling systems".

 

The WCT600 features two universal sensor inputs or up to four 4-20 mA inputs for:

  • Conductive conductivity-measuring cells with different cell constants
  • Inductive conductivity electrodes
  • Fluorescence sensors (for PTSA or fluorescein)
  • pH/ORP sensors
  • Free chlorine / bromine
  • Total chlorine
  • Chlorine dioxide
  • Ozone
  • Hydrogen peroxide

The Walchem WCT100 provides an economical entry and a very flexible way to keep your cooling-water treatment program under control.
